The A-share market has begun a steady and healthy bull run, while the pneumonia outbreak, as a short-term disruption, should not change this mid-to long-run outlook, according to Li.

Several factors will help sustain the bull run, such as the relatively low market valuation, the positive development prospect of China's booming tech sector, and the nation's continuous progress in reforming and opening up the capital market, Li said.

"There is a long way to run in the Chinese equity bull market," said Barry Gill, managing director and head of investment with the global investment bank, on Monday at a media roundtable meeting.

"Many have credited that effort for setting the stage for steady economic growth and a long bull market that since the early 1990s brought prosperity to millions of Americans.

"The A-share market is near its historical low and therefore provides a shelter for global capital that is concerned about downside risks of equity markets in the United States and Europe, which have showed signs of an end to bull runs," Dong said.

The overhaul triggered a bull run from 2006 to 2007, with the Shanghai Composite Index peaking at 6124 points in October 2007, the highest level ever.

If the US central bank is raising the curtain for another round of QE, it will be an effective way to avoid a hard landing in the 10-year-old bull market in the United States.
