Eager to compete with other established rivals, Yadea showcased its latest technology breakthrough on graphene battery at an industrial exhibition in Nanjing in October.
Apart from shorter charging time and strong impact resistance ability, the life span of its graphene battery is three times longer than ordinary batteries.
For instance, in 2016, it acquired a 25 percent stake in Spain's graphene polymer battery company Grabat Energy SL.
The AIH Foundation, a Singapore-headquartered medical equipment management agency, has signed an agreement with Penknife Investment Srl, an Italian association that introduces the country's high-tech enterprises to China, to co-develop smart medical wearable devices with embedded graphene sensors.
Graphene sensors, which are sensitive enough to detect neurochemicals like dopamine and biochemicals like glucose, will serve as core components of the medical devices and in the form of smart bracelets.
In 2016, Chint acquired a 25 percent stake in Spain's graphene polymer battery company Grabat Energy SL to seek new business growth.
China and the United Kingdom may soon become the world's biggest producers of graphene, following an agreement to manufacture it in eastern China.
UK-based advanced materials engineering company Versarien and partners in China have struck a deal to build a graphene factory in Jinan, East China's Shandong province.
Graphene is a highly conductive, incredibly strong, two-dimensional material made of carbon.
"Graphene and its sister materials will eventually be used in pretty much everything you touch-packaging, transportation equipment, sporting goods, clothing and textiles.
"Ricketts said the electric vehicle sector in China, which is the world's largest by production, will likely prove an important market for graphene and other advanced materials.
The manufacture of graphene on Chinese soil is good news for domestic companies looking to place large orders.
Graphene has a very low density-storing one metric ton of the material requires the equivalent of 38,000 conventional oil drums-so transport across oceans is a challenge.
The new partnership will also set up a graphene research center, which together with the factory will be called the China-UK Jinan Graphene Industrial Park, or, informally, the Jinan Graphene Valley.
"This is potentially a route to provide the biggest capacity for graphene in the world," Ricketts said.
"China's interest in British research into the material was highlighted by President Xi Jinping's visit to the National Graphene Institute in Manchester during his 2015 state visit to the UK.
The first UK-China graphene conference was held in November in Chongqing, where British scientists demonstrated the latest breakthroughs in the commercialization of the material.
"Researchers are looking to use graphene to solve issues that have a big social impact-things like membranes that enable desalination, sensors for new types of communication, technologies that help combat cancer, diabetes and dementia," Ricketts said.
Graphene has yet to become a household name in industrial products even though it is a breakthrough material.
"Compared with traditional displays, graphene screens are more pliable and have more intensity," said Chen Yu, chief executive officer of Guangzhou OED.
"Because it transmits light faster, it means optical displays will be much brighter," he added, pointing out that his company had linked up with Chongqing Graphene Tech Co Ltd.
Chen stressed that Guangzhou OED and Chongqing Graphene have poured about 700 million yuan ($106 million) into research and development of graphene-related products in the past several years.
"We will start commercial production of graphene electronic shelf labels next year, to meet the growing demand from China's unmanned convenience stores," Chen said.
In 2015, Guangzhou OED passed on its graphene electronic-paper technology to Russian smartphone maker Yota Devices to develop its next generation of products with double-sided display screens.
Graphene is an allotrope of carbon in the form of a two-dimensional, atomic-scale, honey-comb lattice.
As a major producer of graphite, China's policy on export permits for certain graphite products will have a certain impact on the global supply chain of batteries and new energy vehicles," said Liu Zhibo, a professor specializing in graphene materials at Nankai University in Tianjin.
"Currently, China is leading the development of NEV batteries, and graphite plays a significant role in battery research and production, including the use of graphene to develop high-performance batteries," he said.
Emphasis on R&D, mass production, breakthroughs for strategic advantageChina aims to accelerate the industrialization of new materials like superconducting materials, graphene and liquid metal that are now considered critical to the development of high-tech industries, the country's top industry regulator said.
They also called for their subordinate bodies to encourage enterprises to advance the industrialization of graphene in sectors like rail traffic, aerospace equipment, new energy and new-generation information technologies.
Liu Zhibo, a Nankai University professor engaged in the R&D of graphene for applications in photoelectric devices, said it is vitally important to devote more resources to pioneering the industrialization of various new materials.
"Both foreign and domestic experts and scholars have been working on graphene for a long time.
"According to Liu, there are many prototypes of photoelectric devices that use graphene in laboratories around the world.
"But, at present, it's still hard to mass-produce such devices because it's still hard to industrialize the production of graphene while ensuring its quality.
China aims to accelerate the industrialization of new materials such as superconducting materials, graphene and liquid metal, which are the cornerstone and precursor of the future development of high-tech industries, the country’s top industry regulator said on Monday.
For instance, the ministries called for their subordinate bodies to encourage enterprises to advance the industrialization of graphene in potential sectors such as rail traffic, aerospace equipment, new energy and new-generation information technologies.
To help achieve breakthroughs in core technologies, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has approved the establishment of a string of national manufacturing innovation centers, including three new ones in November, which focus on graphene, virtual reality and ultra-high-definition video industries.
The innovation centers, backed by research or tech firms in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Sichuan provinces, will focus on graphene, virtual reality, and ultra-high-definition video industries, respectively, said the ministry.
Innovation centers have been stationed in the city focusing on cutting-edge products such as graphene and magnetic materials.
