Hew Wee Choong, vice-president of the Investment and Industry Development arm of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, a government agency for promotion of digital economy in Malaysia since 1996, said in an interview with China Daily during the recent China Sourcing Summit that there are a lot of opportunities for digital economy cooperation between the two countries.
Hew said that "there has been a steady stream of Chinese companies coming into Malaysia," including e-commerce giant Alibaba and Chinasoft International.
"We are talking to a fair number of companies in terms of investing and setting up operations in Malaysia mostly in the area of big data analytics, artificial intelligence and financial technology," Hew said.
