Lingo Bus, the online Mandarin subsidiary of China's largest online education startup VIPKID, announced a strategic partnership with a leading publication firm on Thursday to boost content for new growth amid the rising demand of learning Chinese abroad.

In an earlier interview with China Daily, Su Haifeng, head of Lingo Bus, said that Lingo Bus has an edge in terms of content, as well as teachers, compared with other similar products.
Lingo Bus, a subsidiary of China's largest online education startup VIPKID, is looking to expand its overseas presence significantly to become the world's largest online Chinese-teaching platform within three years.
"We will beef up our presence in the overseas market, especially in Southeast Asia as well as countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative," said Su Haifeng, head of Lingo Bus.
Different from classroom courses, Lingo Bus provides one-on-one personalized online Chinese lessons for children aged between 5 and 12.
Children of overseas Chinese have become the main pillar of demand, according to Lingo Bus.
"Compared with other similar products, Lingo Bus has an edge in terms of the content as well as teachers," said Su.
It launched Lingo Bus, a platform teaching Chinese to children overseas, two years ago, to follow in the footsteps of its parent company in going global.

While VIPkid delivers live English lessons to mainly Chinese students, Lingo Bus specializes in Chinese language.
"Expanding our overseas business will be a major task in the coming year, especially promoting our Mandarin platform Lingo Bus to the countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative," said Mi Wenjuan, founder and CEO of VIPKID, during an interview at the 4th World Internet Conference held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province.
In August, VIPKID officially launched Lingo Bus, a new platform for children around the world to learn Chinese online, taking this four-year-old startup a step forward.
Lingo Bus targets children aged 5 to 12 who are passionate about learning Chinese.
Su Haifeng, head of the Lingo Bus program at VIPKID, said China's growing economic and cultural impact across the world has triggered more interest in learning the language, which inspired his team to launch this program.
What Lingo Bus does, Su said, is to bridge teachers in China and children overseas via the internet.
Su said Lingo Bus has gained more than 1,000 usersxa0- without any marketing or publicity eventsxa0- in countries and regions including the United States, Canada and Egypt since a trial operation started in June.
