Since the institutional dividend of the RCEP primarily involves the effective implementation of various conveniences and preferential policies under existing rules, it would be beneficial for all parties to further enhance policy coordination, facilitate regional regulatory convergence, reduce institutional costs and genuinely improve the business environment.
Canned pineapples, papayas and other products, imported in large quantities as raw materials from the Philippines, could not enjoy the preferential tariffs of the China-Australia FTA signed in 2015.
Duan Weidong, general manager of Huafon Microfibre, a Shanghai-based manufacturer of microfiber materials, said that a series of preferential policies, such as customs clearance facilitation and tariff concessions, has enabled the company to bring down costs and land new orders with Vietnamese customers.
"We will also enhance the efficiency of issuing certificates of origin under the rules of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership pact, continuously unleashing the dividends of RCEP-related preferential policies, and ensuring that Chinese companies fully benefit from and enjoy the advantages of preferential policies under various free trade deals," said Dang.
This comes after China's Ministry of Finance released a notice to continue implementing preferential income tax policies for foreigners earlier this week.
