Located in the Shulanghu Ore Transfer Terminal in Zhoushan city, Zhejiang province, the Vale Shulanghu Grinding Hub is designed to have a total of three production lines, with a total nominal capacity of 3 million tons per year.

The Shulanghu Grinding Hub is the result of an extensive partnership between Vale and the NZP Group that dates back to 2016 when the two parties began to cooperate on ore blending to produce Brazilian Blended Fines (BRBF).
Jiang Yipeng, deputy general manager of Zhejiang Seaport Group and Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group, said the hub is a key milestone in deepening the partnership and enhancing synergy between Vale and Ningbo Zhoushan Port, and an important symbol of production capacity upgrade and high-quality development of the Shulanghu Terminal.
Baoshan Iron and Steel Co Ltd (Baosteel), a subsidiary of China Baowu Steel Group, completed a 100 million yuan ($14.1 million) iron ore settlement deal via blockchain technology with mining giant Rio Tinto Plc, after inking yuan purchase deals with Brazil's Vale in January and Australia's BHP Group in April.
In January, Baosteel purchased about 330 million yuan worth of iron ore from Brazilian iron ore miner Vale in Chinese currency.
- The HBIS Group, one of the world's largest steelmakers based in northern China's Hebei province, has imported iron ore from the Brazilian mining giant Vale in use of RMB clearing.
The HBIS Group, or Hebei Iron and Steel, paid about 200 million yuan ($29 million) to Vale, the largest producer and exporter of iron in the world, earlier this week.
It was the first time for the group to settle in RMB with iron ore imports, and it was also the first time that Vale adopted the iron ore futures prices released by the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) as pricing references, according to the HBIS Group.
China is the largest consumer of most metals, and international mining firms such as BHP and Vale are looking to team up with Chinese counterparts, she said.

That is also the reason more international mining firms like BHP and Vale are looking to team up with Chinese counterparts, she added.
China's efforts to reduce pollution are expected to boost demand for Vale's high-quality iron ore, while the Brazilian miner will continuously diversify its business, said Fabio Schvartsman, Vale's chief executive officer.
The nation's continuous efforts to clean up its skies and improve productivity by shutting down smaller polluting steel mills have boosted demand for high-grade iron ore, which represents more opportunities for suppliers of better quality ore like Vale, he said.
"Vale has a very large and very successful iron ore business and the advantage that the Brazilian firm has to offer is the higher proportion of high-quality iron ore, which is very important at this moment for China," said Schvartsman.
"Vale is committed to serving customers in China, the most important country and client for us, in the best possible way and the current challenge and momentum is extremely positive for those in the iron ore business," he said.
Vale said that it will continue to blend products at ports in China for making required and speedy deliveries to steel mills and also to build up inventories.
According to Schvartsman, the Belt and Road Initiative is a very clever way of using the installed capacity in China and it represents sustainable demand for the likes of Vale.
It is designed for Brazilian miner Vale SA to conduct tasks on the route between China and Brazil, the company said in a statement.
Joao Mendes De Faria is president of Vale China, a multinational mining corporation based in Brazil.
Vale supplies the best quality iron ore in the world with the lowest impurities.
Together, Vale and China can build a greener steel sector, contributing to the country's objectives of achieving sustainable environmental and economic development.
Brazilian mining company Vale recently announced the signing of seven agreements with different Chinese partners to strengthen its relationship with China, including a project investment agreement for the Morowali project in Indonesia, two comprehensive strategic cooperation agreements signed with leading Chinese banks and two agreements to strengthen cooperation with Chinese universities.
"As a partner of China for 50 years and a reliable supplier of raw materials to the Chinese steel industry, Vale has a long-term commitment to the Chinese market," said Alexandre Silva D'Ambrosio, the company's executive vice-president of corporate and external affairs.
As Chinese steel mills source more than 70 percent of their iron ore needs from overseas suppliers, including Vale, collaboration with miners could enable them to take into consideration the iron ore supply when designing their path to reduced carbon emissions, she said.
Ordered by its client－Brazilian mining giant Vale SA－the trains, including business class, economy class and dining carriages, will be shipped to Brazil in 2024, said Ma Jin, a project manager at Shandong province-based CRRC Qingdao Sifang.
"Vale SA, a Brazilian giant engaged in metals and mining, has viewed China as its biggest market since 2006, according to Xie Xue, a manager of Vale.

Tracy Xie, president for China at Vale, a Brazilian iron ore producer, said there is no doubt that great leadership, a stable political environment, consistent economic policy and persistence in reform and opening-up have contributed to China's achievements.
Vale, one of the world's largest iron ore producer based in Brazil, for instance, has reported a nearly one-fifth decline in iron ore output in the first quarter compared with the prior one.
Vale also reported a decline in copper production due to maintenance that was slowed by COVID-19-related restrictions, according to industry news outlet mining.
"Multinational mining companies like Rio Tinto, BHP and Vale can play crucial roles in supporting China's transition to a low-carbon steel industry, as China's steel mills rely on overseas suppliers for more than 70 percent of their iron ore needs," she said.
In April, Brazilian mining company Vale announced seven agreements with different Chinese partners to strengthen its relationship with China.
