Searches for restaurants serving the feast on the Spring Festival eve, one highlight occasion featuring a family gathering and sumptuous dishes, soared over 157 percent compared with last year, according to Dianping, the Chinese version of Yelp.

According to Dianping, the Chinese version of Yelp, searches for camping jumped 151 percent from the previous month and nearly threefold from last year.

Since the start of January, the search volume of the terms "curling" and "ice hockey" recorded year-on-year growth of 310 percent and 130 percent, respectively, with more ice and snow sports going viral among young generations, according to Dianping, the Chinese version of Yelp.

"Searches for tanning salons now amount to some 350 in Beijing, and the number came in at about 280 and 470 in Guangzhou and Shanghai, respectively, according to the popular review and rating platform Dianping, the Chinese version of Yelp.

As an indication of how much crawfish has triggered the appetite of Chinese consumers with sophisticated tastes, a search of the words "crawfish delivery" through Dazhong Dianping, a Chinese customer review app that is similar to Yelp, results in more than 3,100 restaurants that offer deliveries in Beijing alone.

The app is quite similar to yelp, but instead of people commenting on stores and shops, they share reviews on brands and products.

"We are aiming to build the Yelp of the sports industry," said Hong Ping, president of ZhongShiLiangZhong (Beijing) Cultural Media Co Ltd, the company responsible for operating the Sports Space.
